I interned at powerplay for two months as User Experience Designer.
Powerplay is a mobile-web app-based ecosystem that simplifies site-to-office communication to manage construction & architectural projects. It brings every stakeholder (project manager, engineer, CXO, CTO, and client) of a construction project on one single platform such that it increases transparency with timely completion of a construction project within the budget limits.
It’s a passionate team working day-in-day-out towards making a tool to bridge communication gaps in India’s second-largest industry, i.e., the construction industry.
I worked on the following core features please click on pages to view documentation for each one of them.
We used to have daily morning standup, where we discussed our plans for the ongoing and coming sprints. Every sprint was a cumulation of tasks that were focused solely on improving the tool’s user experience.
The team focused on shipping — iterating fast and learning more. Each week was a product sprint, at the end of which, we had an improved application in terms of functionality, performance, and the most important, User Experience.
Tasks were assigned in daily standup. As the team wasn’t too big, I got the opportunity to work in a very close and collaborative environment with the company CEO, CTO, and the whole product and growth team.
Since I was working on a problem statement that was not yet addressed so efficiently in the industry, it was difficult for me to understand and design experiences for the user. User/Customer Calls were quite frequent, which became the source for me to learn about the user, his expectations, goals and needs.
There are a lot of things I learnt during my internship period that would surely help me in taking better design decisions and create effective solutions. I was able to improve my skills in critical analysis, user research, feature testing, branding and product thinking.
Clearly understanding the problem and developing a practical and feasible solution is something that everyone wants. But things are not so easy in a real-world scenario. We face several constraints and have to deal with them.
The entire team at Powerplay was very passionate and helpful. They encouraged and helped the interns to learn something new every day!
